Child & Adolescent Coaching with Steve Doe

Every child and young person is unique, which is why every coaching journey is carefully tailored to them. Before we begin, I’ll take time to get to know your child through a discovery call and initial conversations with you, allowing us to create a coaching experience that feels safe, supportive and meaningful from the very start.

My coaching sessions provide a calm, non-judgemental space where children and young people can talk openly, explore their thoughts and feelings, and feel truly listened to. Together, we’ll gently work through the challenges they are facing, celebrate their strengths, and build the confidence and resilience they need to move forward.

Using practical coaching tools, age-appropriate activities and open conversation, I help young people better understand themselves, manage difficult emotions, develop healthy coping strategies and feel more confident in everyday life. My aim is for every child to leave each session feeling heard, valued and equipped with skills they can continue to use long after coaching has finished.

How Coaching Can Help

Coaching can support children and young people with:

  • Anxiety and stress – Learning practical techniques to manage worries, calm anxious thoughts and feel more confident when facing everyday challenges.
  • Low confidence and self-esteem – Discovering personal strengths, building self-belief and developing the confidence to try new things and believe in themselves.
  • Friendship and relationship difficulties – Understanding healthy friendships, improving communication, managing conflict and building positive relationships with others.
  • Emotional regulation and behaviour – Recognising emotions, understanding what triggers them and learning healthy ways to express and manage big feelings.
  • Sensory regulation – Identifying sensory needs and exploring strategies that help children feel calmer, more comfortable and better able to cope in different environments.
  • Feeling stuck or overwhelmed – Breaking challenges into manageable steps, setting realistic goals and helping young people feel hopeful and empowered again.
  • School transitions and exam pressure – Supporting children through school changes, transitions, academic pressures and exam anxiety while building confidence and resilience.
  • Building resilience, emotional intelligence and healthy boundaries – Helping young people understand themselves and others, make positive choices, solve problems and develop lifelong emotional skills.

My Coaching Style

Building trust is at the heart of everything I do. I know that opening up isn’t always easy, so I work at each child’s pace, creating an environment where they feel safe, accepted and never judged. No two coaching sessions are ever the same because no two children are the same. Every session is adapted to suit your child’s personality, interests, communication style and preferred way of learning. Whether they learn best through conversation, visual resources, practical activities or creative approaches, I will tailor each session to meet them where they are.

I am passionate about providing a neurodivergent-affirming approach and have experience supporting children and young people with Autism, ADHD, developmental differences and a wide range of additional needs. Coaching is adapted using visual supports, structured routines, multi-sensory learning and repetition where appropriate, ensuring every child feels understood, respected and able to succeed in their own way.

Above all, my goal is to help every child feel accepted for who they are, recognise their own strengths and leave each session feeling a little more confident than when they arrived.

Session Information

Coaching sessions can take place:

  • In a quiet, comfortable space within your home
  • Online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • In a suitable community setting, such as a library or local park

Sessions last 60 minutes and are usually held weekly to provide consistency and allow time to practise new skills between appointments.

For the best outcomes, coaching is usually booked in blocks of 4 or 8 sessions, after which we’ll review progress together and decide on the next steps.
